Solid-State Switching Matrix

Pickering InterfacesThe 40-563 is a solid-state switching version of the company's BRIC suited for applications that require hot switching. The matrix is available with two, four, and eight slots. The FET-based BRIC switches have a continuous current rating of 0.25 A and can sustain inrush currents of 0.75 A for 100 ms without any degradation of operational life. These switches ensure fast rise and fall times of typically 20 ms without contact bounce. Each switch has a typical on resistance of 0.8 Ω providing a typical path resistance of 2.5 Ω between X-axis connections. Matrix sizes range from 68x4 to 384x8.

It records multiple events on each channel with 50-ps timing resolution and a mean dead time between sequential pulses of <15 ns. Four million stop events can be recorded. The instrument offers a throughput rate of 25 million events/s and enables event counting or histogram creation for data and spectra comparison. The 10-ms recording range can be extended by dedicating one channel to a fiducial signal.

The 3U PXIS-2558T and PXIS-2508 Chassis feature one system slot and seven peripheral slots with smart chassis status monitoring and control. They provide a 0°C to 55°C operating temperature range, a 41.6-dBA noise level, and a 350-W AC power supply. The chassis weigh 13 lb and can be used as benchtop or portable units. A remote computer monitors and controls chassis status using a standard RS-232 connection. An 8.4” LCD touch screen supporting 800 x 600 resolution is integrated with the PXIS-2558T.

The Model 2960AX Quartz Frequency Standard generates reference signals for laboratory equipment, communications systems, or other test and measurement equipment. Stability is <±5 x 10-11 per day when disciplined to a 1-pps source. The benchtop unit uses an auto-adaptive disciplining algorithm, requiring no user intervention or tuning, that tracks the 1 pps from a GPS smart antenna. The MU181000B 12.5‑GHz Four-Port Synthesizer, the MU181000A/B-001 Jitter Modulation Option, and MX180005A Jitter Application Software are now available for the MP1800A Signal Quality Analyzers. The MP1800A Series, with options, can measure jitter tolerance on multichannel CPU boards, PCBs, and optical devices forming interconnects in routers, servers, and supercomputers. The jitter function is precalibrated. Combining two MP1800A instruments as MUX/DEMUX and a synthesizer supports BER testing up to 50 GB/s. Up to 80 MHz of jitter can be added with the MP1800A to perform measurements in compliance with industry standards including ITU-T, ANSI, IEEE, XFI, and EI.

The sockets can be mounted using hardware and holes for screws on the target board. Epoxy mount is an option if holes cannot be drilled.

Improvements to the bearing assemblies give higher cross-axial stiffness and overturning moments, which usually are reduced when the shaker stroke is increased.

The V Series Variable Finger Snap-On BeCu Gaskets offer shielding effectiveness up to 100-dB attenuation. By reducing the number of full snap-on fingers on a strip, shielding effectiveness is increased because there are fewer gaps to close. Each gasket is offered in five finger or slot patterns. The series accommodates bidirectional applications, requires a low closing force, and closes gaps as small as 0.02”. Gaskets 187V32FXx, 250V37FXx, and 282V60FXx can be configured to custom lengths.

Base-Station Amplifier

The Model KAW4040M13 Base-Station Amplifier, available in 100-W and 500-W versions, supports complex waveforms in base-station applications. The 100-W model, designed to run 24/7/365, operates from 225 MHz to 400 MHz. A tracking filter can be installed to enhance noise performance. The 225-MHz to 400-MHz 500-W model is a rack-mounted drop-in replacement to an existing but unsupported amplifier system. Ethernet remote monitoring and control are available with options for single- or three-phase primary power. A bypass system provides continuous operation in the event of a power supply failure.

Field Probes

Two new versions for E-field measurements from 10 kHz to 1 GHz have been added to the LaserPro™ Field Probes: the laser-powered Model HI-6122 and the battery-powered Model HI-6022 with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Features include autoranging, a dynamic range of 2 to 800 V/m, and a small physical profile. The units are suited for lower frequency testing for MIL-STD-461E, DO160E, and EN/SAE automotive immunity requirements. Users of the HI-4422 and corresponding FP series probes can upgrade performance by substituting either of these new probes. A2LA calibration is provided with each probe.

Antennas for Field Testing

The AT4418 and AT4403 are compact, lightweight antennas for RFI/EMI field testing. The AT4418 covers the 1- to 18-GHz frequency range and handles 300-W CW input power. It provides minimum gain of 7-dB over isotropic. The AT4403 spans the 200-MHz to 2-GHz range and is intended for 1,000-W CW input power. It supplies a minimum gain of 5-dB isotropic. The antennas are mobile, mount easily on a tripod, and can withstand the demands of outdoor use.

DC Power Entry Module

A snap-in version has been added to the Series 5003 DC Power Entry Module for 48-V telecom and other DC-powered equipment. The new DC module features the AMP Universal MATE-N-LOK and Molex HCS-125 connector styles. The connectors are encased with a single-stage filter rated up to 15 A at 125 VDC. The filters provide wide-band attenuation in frequencies ranging from 100 kHz to 30 MHz. The series is ENEC and cURs approved and complies with IEC/EN 60950 for office and IT equipment. Applications include network routers, LAN switches, and WAN switches and multiplexers.

The new PEFT 8010 Electrical Fast Transient Simulator produces impulses singly and in bursts up to 7.3 kV in accordance with IEC/EN 61000-4-4. Each impulse has a 5-ns 10% to 90% rise time and a 50-ns duration measured between 50% points. Bursts of up to 75 impulses are possible at an impulse frequency as high as 100 kHz. Alternatively, impulses can be produced continuously at up to 225 impulses/s or with random positioning within a burst. A wide range of accessories and options is available.

Harmonics/Flicker Tester

The HAR1000-1P is a single-phase low-frequency measuring system used for determining harmonic and flicker emissions generated by a EUT connected to 230 V/50 Hz and 115 V/60 Hz AC power. The HAR1000-1P comprises a power amplifier, a line impedance network, and harmonics and flicker measurement circuitry. The hardware is controlled by the HARCS software package, which assists in test setup, records up to eight different parameters, verifies harmonics and flicker, displays results, and simulates circuit behavior. The HAR-EXT1000 unit adds the capability to measure two more phases to the HAR1000-1P.

The 500-W SMX500 increases the maximum output power of the SMX Solid State Power Amplifier range to at least 57 dBm at frequencies from 10 kHz to 1,000 MHz. The amplifier shares features common to the series such as digital display monitors for power supply current and voltage, forward and reverse RF power, total hours of use, and hours operated. Fault monitoring includes VSWR overload, thermal overloads, and the airflow power supply. Remote operation is controlled via built-in GPIB or RS-232 with optional RS-422, RS-4785, or TTL interfaces.

A full range of RoHS-compliant and UL-, cUL-, and VDE-approved double-stage EMI filters is available for general-purpose as well as low-leakage medical versions (M) categorized as 092 and 092M series. Omega Shielding ProductsRound Flexible Shields

A range of 22 electrically conductive beryllium-copper contact rings is offered for EMI shielding applications. The rings are manufactured using standard fingerstock gasket styles. Once installed in round-shaped plug openings, the gaskets attenuate unwanted microwave and RF interference. Custom sizes are available, and the rings can be made with curved contacts on either the inside or outside to ease installation. A bright finish is standard, but 10 plating options are available.

A series of connectors incorporates EMI or ESD filters in an industry-standard USB package. The filtered connectors have a working voltage of 5 VDC with a 1-A current rating and are a drop-in replacement for unfiltered connectors. The maximum contact resistance is 30 mΩ. A capacitive filter is used for USB 1.1 and an inductive filter for USB 2.0. Various models meet the requirements of USB 2.0 and USB On-The-Go specifications, and all are RoHS compliant.

Staticide®ESD Safety Shield, a durable water-based acrylic coating, bonds to plastics such as tubing, clamshell protective packaging, carrying trays, and lids. It dries clear and leaves a dissipative coating that will not wash off or biodegrade. The coating can be brushed on, dipped, or sprayed. Surface resistivity is 105 to 107 Ω and available in customized formulations for lower resistance and complex plastics. The Ohm-Stat® RT-1000 Megohmmeter tests according to EOS/ESD, CECC, ANSI, ASTM, UL, HFPA, military, and EIA standards. It measures voltage from 10 V to 100 V, temperature from 0°C to 37°C, resistivity/resistance from 103 Ω to 1012 Ω, and relative humidity from 10% to 90%. The kit includes two 5-lb 2.5” probes; two 3” parallel surface resistivity probes; a dissipative chair test probe; a ground probe; garment clamps; a 9-V DC alkaline battery; and a 120-V or 220-V AC adapter.

The NSG 437 ESD Simulator meets the holding time of at least 5 s required by the global ESD standards. During air- and contact-discharge operation, it generates pulses of 200 V to 30 kV. The simulator features interchangeable network modules with resistance values from 0 W and a capacitance up to the nanoFarad-range. It has a threshold detector to eliminate faulty discharge counts and a touch-panel display including a keypad for parameter setting and control showing functional and test data. Preprogrammed settings for IEC/EN 61000-4-2 and ISO 10605 ensure the NSG 437 is correctly set up and the menus are retaining the settings.

The NSG 439 ESD Generator with the automated robotic adapter stops unforeseen discharge paths and allows the approaching speed to be programmed as constant, providing precisely executed air-discharge testing. It is IEC/EN 61000-4-2 and ISO 10605 compliant. The robot attachment can be positioned on multiple faces of the housing, and networks can be exchanged by removing the locking cap. Included with the generator are the INA 439 robotic air discharge adapter, software, a test bench, and an interlocked enclosure.
